Enter the Library Video Competition!

The Department of Library Services in partnership with Bookmark invite all University of Pretoria students to participate in a library video competition!

The Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) is celebrating South African Library Week from 18-26 March 2017 with the theme 'My Library, Your Library' and sub-themes: 'My Library, My Home', 'Mind your Library' and 'Tell me about your Library'.  Use any of the South African Library Week themes and create your own innovative video about (any of) the University of Pretoria libraries and stand a chance of winning a drone sponsored by Bookmark! 

Videos will be judged according to the following:

• They should not exceed 1 minute;
• Creativity, innovation and originality;
• Quality of the production for example sound and light.

Prizes sponsored by Bookmark:

• First prize: Zonabel Mini Quadcopter Drone with Built in Micro Camera worth R1495;

• Second prize: JJRC H22 Red Quadcopter Drone worth R1200.

Closing date of the competition: 18 April 2017

Winners will be notified: 20 April 2017

Tips for producing your video:

• If you can, please add a catchy title;

• Keep it simple: share in a creative way how your library assists you or why you feel positive about your library;

• The first 3 – 10 seconds are crucial: try to make a good first impression;

• Visuals trump audio: the visuals should still get the message across even without audio;

• Video works best if you share something not seen before: try to make your videos unique.
