The Learning Centre approaches House Committees via different and innovative ways

Posted on January 06, 2022

The Department of Library Services (DLS) had to initiate new ways to market to users who are no longer on campus full time due to COVID 19. The Learning Centre opted to reach students via the newly elected House Committees (HC) of residences, faculty and day houses. During September, we had meetings with the two managers at Student Affairs who are responsible for House Committees. They suggested that we target the newly elected members. We identified an interactive virtual tool called Kumospace to reach them and invited them to a Virtual Rooftop Kumospace event.  The Rooftop event was a fun event for the two hundred and ninety-five HC members. It included having a virtual coffee, pizzas, listening to Spotify music and, most importantly, watching videos on a variety of library products and services, including Libby videos.  The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and the event was described as awesome, creative, innovative and not boring.  This was a huge opportunity for the Learning Centre to raise awareness in a fun and unforgettable way. We are looking forward to expand and host similar events with all students next yearThe Department of Library Services (DLS) had to initiate new ways to market to users who are no longer on campus full time due to COVID 19.
