Rate Us: how the DLS is making a difference in the life of Tom Torbeyns

Posted on September 08, 2021

The Department of Library Services (DLS) at the University of Pretoria allows students to acquire resources which are not available in their local libraries for personal use. As a PhD student under Professor Johannes van Oort, I access the services of the DLS to acquire sources that I cannot easily access alone due to time, distance or COVID19 restrictions. As a new PhD student, this service allows me to spend more time researching, reading and studying. It has made my workload for acquiring the necessary relevant resources much lighter. In this way, it has been a tremendous blessing for my family and I. It also allows me to spend more time with my wife and soon it will allow me to spend more time with our firstborn child. For all of this, I would like to thank all those continuously working to make those services available. In particular, I would like to thank Mrs. Christine Nel, as well as the hardworking individuals who tirelessly scan and forward the resources, for always providing me with the requested resources in a matter of days. Last, but not least, I would like to thank Mrs. Elsabé Olivier for giving me the opportunity to write these few thoughts in this newsletter.
