It was with great sadness to hear of the passing of the following colleagues. We will miss them dearly.
Samuel Tshekane Hobyane (01.11.1971 – 06.09.2021)
Samuel Hobyane was sadly called to rest on the 6th of September 2021. He leaves behind five sons, one daughter, a sister and his loving wife. Sam, as he was fondly known to many, started working permanently at the University of Pretoria in August 1997, and served the Department of Library Services and the University of Pretoria community for 24 years. At the time of his passing, he was a Senior Information Assistant at the Humanities and Theology Faculty Library. He made an impactful contribution to the Library and he was well loved by all team members and other Library staff. Sam will be remembered for his outgoing personality, good humour and his gentle manner. He was laid to rest on Friday, the 10th of September 2021 at Mogogelo Village, Hammanskraal. Sam has left a huge void in the lives of all that he touched. Rest in peace, Colleague. We are grateful for the opportunity to have known you!
We are saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of our colleague, Mr Zanele Msomi.
Mr Msomi started working at the UP Music Library on the 1st of May, 2017. While at the Music Library, he was also a part of our Interlibrary loans team. At the time of his passing, he was working at the Mamelodi Campus.
Mr Msomi will be sorely missed at the DLS.
We have received sad news that Mrs Antoinette Kemp has passed on. She used to work at the Basic Medical Sciences & Dentistry Library. She retired in 2011, after working for the University for 22 years. She was 77 years old at the time of her passing.
We are left with good memories in mind as we remember our dear colleague and friend.
May God be with her family.
Suzette worked at the Bindery for 24 years, from the 1st of October 1987 to the 30th of June 2011.
She will be sorely missed at the DLS and our hearts and prayers are with her family and friends.
May God be with their families and friends
