The Commons Informer – an inside scoop

Posted on May 01, 2020

The lock-down has presented a plethora of problems that library staff have tackled in great earnest. One of the problems we are faced with at the Research Commons is growing out of touch with students on a social level, which has always been a great comfort to both students and staff. To avoid drifting too far apart, the Research Commons has started a blog! With this blog, we hope to keep our close-knit community of postgraduate patrons connected to us.

We are working on introducing all of our Research Commons’ teams to remind students that we are still here and still working hard to help them however we can. This platform also allows us to share who we are outside of our work at the library and foster the sense of community we pride ourselves on.

Currently, we are using LibCal’s blog page option on our Subject Guide. This platform is easy to navigate and maintain, however, we hope to get much more creative in the future with other platforms that offer greater opportunities for design and interaction.

Our hopes for the future of this blog include featured posts about some of our patrons, in-house competitions, commissioned blog posts from students and other staff, and more!
