South African Library Week competition winners announced

The week of 18-26 March 2017 was declared South African Library Week by LIASA (Library and Information Association of South Africa) with the theme “My library, your library”. Sub-themes were “My library, my home”, “Mind your library” and “Tell me about your library”. The UP Library in partnership with Bookmark invited all students to participate in a library video competition using one of these themes. Bookmark sponsored two drones as prizes. The eight students who participated had great fun producing their videos and the judges found it difficult to choose a winner. In the end Christopher Brown won a Mini Quadcopter Drone with a built in camera and the runner up was Elton Matchebe, who won a Red Quadcopter Drone. This was another successful and innovative way for students to have fun while being creative and learning to communicate and learning about the Library.   The Library will in future use these videos to market the importance of the Library during orientation week.
