Calling all UP studentpreneurs! Enter the 2020 National Entrepreneurship Intervarsity and stand to win R100,000

Posted on February 11, 2020

Do you have what it takes to represent the University of Pretoria (UP) with your business or business idea at a national entrepreneurship competition? You could win R100 000 towards your business idea, a Samsung tablet, or qualify for business support and mentorship that will develop your business.

The University of Pretoria is proud to be partnered with the Department of Higher Education and Training and Universities South Africa for the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) National Entrepreneurship Intervarsity.

We need a group of UP student entrepreneurs to enter to stand a chance of winning. Would you like to be #ProudlyUP and fly the UP flag high at this national competition?

You can enter a business idea on its own, or if you enter in a business category then your business needs to be at least three months old and operational before you enter. If you enter your business, it must have generated an income or received some form of investment at the time of entering the competition.

The competition aims to identify the best student entrepreneurs at South African universities and to showcase their businesses with the aim of attracting investment. The overall winner of the Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2020 walks away with prize money to the value of R100 000 and the coveted title of national Studentpreneur of the Year 2020.

Entrepreneurship is crucial for South Africa’s economy because small and medium enterprises have the ability to create jobs, innovate and improve the lives of those around us.

All UP students have access to our specially developed Entrepreneurship programme through ClickUP. The programme is free to registered UP students, and will guide you on your way to entrepreneurial success – from the basics all the way through to becoming a profitable company. UP has several business incubators which target different types of specialist businesses.

Student entrepreneurs can apply for the National Entrepreneurship Intervarsity competition online in various categories ranging from ideas to technology and socially impactful projects.
