#Assupol TuksCricket: Mitchell van Buuren and Ruan de Swardt to play in SA u19 Team

Posted on January 10, 2017

Mitchell van Buuren and Ruan de Swardt’s on field heroics during the 2017 Cubs Week in Stellenbosch led to the two Assupol TuksCricket players being selected for the South African under-19 team that will play in a triangular series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Van Buuren played for the Lions Cubs and finished as the second highest run scorer for the week. The former learner from King Edward VII School is a new signing for Tuks and will be studying a BA Sports Coaching degree. His brother, Ross van Buuren, and cousin, Graeme van Buuren, have both played for Assupol TuksCricket as well.

De Swardt who matriculated at Affies last year is quite a versatile sportsman. Not only did he play for the South African Schools rugby team he was also selected in December for the Northerns Khaya Majola Coke Week Team. Due to some excellent performances he also got to play for the Titans Cubs team at last week's CSA Cubs week. He again distinguished himself which led to him being named Player of the Tournament. He has enrolled for a BA in Sports Psychology.
