On day one of the 2016 Momentum National Club Championships Assupol TuksCricket played against the University of Johannesburg at Sinovich Park. The University of Johannesburg won the toss and decided to bowl first.
The Tuks batsman went about their task well and scored 231/9 in 50 overs. Tony de Zorzi (80 from 105 balls) and Murray Coetzee (54 from 78 balls) scored the majority of the runs for the team from Pretoria.
In reply, UJ put on a great effort to score the runs but the Tuks bowlers restricted the team from Gauteng to win the match and bowled them out for 209 in the 48th over. Lungi Ngidi put in a massive effort and took five wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs. Corbin Bosch took 2 wickets and Sean Nowak and Ruben Claassen took a wicket each.
The 22 run win for Assupol TuksCricket marked a great start for the team for this year’s tournament.
