Momentum National Club Championships 2015

After winning the 2014/2015 NCU Premier League, Assupol TuksCricket qualified to play in the Momentum National Club Championships for the 5th consecutive year.

Assupol TuksCricket started their tournament well when they beat Kovies by 42 runs. Gerry Pike top scored with 123* and Sean Nowak was the best bowler for Tuks with figures of 10-0-63-3.

The second day of the tournament didn’t go in the favour of Tuks when they played against NMMU. Tuks won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 237/9 in their 50 overs. Heinrich Klaasen scored the most runs for Tuks with 89*. NMMU then won the match off the last ball of their innings, winning the game by 2 wickets. Jacques Snyman had the best bowling figures for Tuks taking 3 wickets in 9 overs.

It was on day three of the tournament where Assupol TuksCricket lost their chances of going through to the final of the 2015 Momentum Club Championships when they played against Maties. Maties won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tuks scored 221/7 in their 50 overs and Aiden Markram top scored for Tuks with 123. Rain interrupted the 2nd innings but Maties managed to secure a 9 wicket victory on the Duckworth Lewis system.

On day 4 of the Momentum National Club Championships, Assupol TuksCricket played against Pukke at Tuks. This was the last home game that Tuks would play at their current Clubhouse as a new Assupol TuksCricket Head Quarters will be built from August this year. Pukke won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tuks were all bowled out for 203 in 48.3 overs, Heinrich Klaasen top scored with 47. In reply, the Tuks bowlers defended that target and bowled Pukke out for 140 in 35.5 overs. Jacques Snyman was the best bowler for Tuks with figures of 8-0-26-4.

The final day of the tournament saw Assupol TuksCricket play against Burma Lads Cricket Club. Burma Lads won the toss and elected to bat first. Tuks managed to bowl Burma Lads out for 58 in 34.3 overs. In his final match for Assupol TuksCricket before retiring, Gerhard Linde bowled a man of the match spell taking 3 wickets with figures of 10-3-13-3. Tuks managed to secure a bonus point victory when they reached their total in 9.5 overs.
