Assupol TuksCricket Ready for Fifth Consecutive Momentum National Club Championship

Posted on April 21, 2015

Assupol TuksCricket have qualified for the Momentum National Club Championships for the fourth consecutive year after winning the NCU Premier League for the fifth year running. This year’s competition will take place from 22 – 27 April in Pretoria.

This tournament will be the last one for Assupol TuksCricket after a very successful season and the team will be looking to secure their seventh title for the season. This will definitely not be a walk in the park as Tuks will be in a group with Pukke, Kovsies, Maties, Madibaz NMMU and Bruma Lads Cricket Club and only the top team in the group will proceed to the final. The other group will consist of UJ, Crusaders Cricket Club, United Cricket Club, Union Stars Cricket Club, Benoni Northerns Cricket Club and Erdinger Durbanville Cricket Club. The final will take place on Monday 27 April at the TUT Oval.

Assupol TuksCricket Head Coach, Pierre de Bruyn, said, “Assupol TuksCricket has won the Momentum National Club Championships for the last three years with an incredible unbeaten record of 18 matches in the three competitions. It certainly is a great record and something to be very proud of, but that is in the past and we are now entering a new week. We have found ourselves in a very strong group which means that everyone can beat each other on any day and that it will go down to the wire towards the end of the week. We are ready for the week and we have prepared well. As a squad, we will not allow any complacency but instead we will have a very professional approach. It is a stepping stone for young, upcoming players and these types of weeks can change your life.”
