The Conservation Ecology Research Unit (CERU) is a dedicated team of scientists and technicians based in the Department of Zoology and Entomology at the University of Pretoria. Operating as a self-funded and independent research group, CERU secures financial and logistical support through partnerships with industry, non-governmental organisations, and project-based contracts. The unit serves as a hub for cutting-edge research in conservation and ecological restoration, while also offering valuable training opportunities for postgraduate and postdoctoral students. Our research is endorsed by conservation agencies across southern and East Africa.
