GAIN trainees
The Green Jobs Assessment Institutions Network (GAIN) has launched the first regional GAIN Training Hub for Southern Africa in collaboration with the School of Public Management and Administration at the University of Pretoria.
The GAIN network has developed a methodological approach and training guidebook to gather statistics, integrate them into the system of national accounts, and build Green Jobs Assessment Models (GJAM) at national level. The models allow countries to analyse and plan for social and employment outcomes of climate and sustainable development policies.
An important approach of the GAIN network is to offer capacity building and technical assistance so that countries are in the position to collect green jobs and establishment surveys, adapt statistics to their needs and build a model based on country realities and needs on their own.
The first training hub was attended by various trainees, such as government officials and representatives from economic research institutions in Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Ghana, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Senegal and South Africa. It was also attended by Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) partners, United Nations agencies and other national and international research institutions, as well as GAIN members and International Labour Organisation officials.
