The Department of Mercantile Law at the University of Pretoria (UP) and the National Consumer Commission (NCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, marking an important step towards boosting consumer law teaching and advocacy in South Africa. The event, held at the Moot Court, coincided with National Consumer Protection Week (March 2–March 8, 2025), emphasising both organisations' dedication to consumer rights and protection.
The University of Pretoria's Faculty of Law inducted Academic Associates and Assistant Lecturers at the Moot Court on January 28, 2025. The Dean's Office, in collaboration with Education Innovation, planned the event, which served as an important platform for introducing new academic staff to their teaching responsibilities across the faculty's numerous departments. The induction focused on developing coursework aligned with curriculum frameworks, instructional tactics, assessment methodologies, and professional development. The goal was to equip attendees with the tools to balance their roles as educators and scholars.
The scholarship of Professor Charles Fombad provides important guidance to address contemporary challenges to constitutionalism in Africa and around the world.
