Intimacy – the scale of the Consortium, and especially of its meetings, allows the participants to have productive, unhurried conversations in an atmosphere that appears to be impossible to duplicate at the much larger meetings of the more formal and bureaucratic organizations
An Organization of diverse organizations of all sizes and types – where else can some of our smaller and more remote museums and universities meet in such a hospitable atmosphere with giants like the Smithsonian and Yale?
Range of Expertise – Museum directors, art historians, folklorists, material conservators – we are all of these people, meeting together. Most other meetings are either much bigger or more specialized, making it much harder to meet in small groups across disciplines.
