Research

Research in the Centre for Sustainable Communities focuses on the role of the Christian faith and of religion in general, especially African Traditional Religion, and different cultures in the search for a sustainable lifestyle for rich and poor, and a sustainable community. By working with a research partner such as the Nova Institute, the Centre for Sustainable Communities gets the opportunity to take part in different projects to improve the quality of life, mostly with members of poor households. Attention is given to various aspects, such as domestic energy use, caring for vulnerable children, ecosystem services, and the interfaces between industry and the community. The question of the role of the Christian faith in shaping the lifestyles of affluent households is increasingly getting attention, together with Kerk in Actie of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands
