“We are excited to launch the new programme, which will enable graduates to act as change agents and leaders driving public sector reform,” says Prof Gerda van Dijk, programme manager. The qualification will assist students to develop a thorough knowledge and skills set to solve public management problems through innovative and creative initiatives developed for the public good, as well as identifying and addressing ethical issues and behaviour in the public sector.

Prof Van Dijk explains: “The programme focuses on aligning the senior management service competencies with what will be expected from public officials in each of the modules.” She adds that the curriculum was developed in collaboration with the National School of Government, which is the official training arm of government responsible for the education and training of public officials.

To those considering the programme, which is the first fully online programme offered in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, Prof Van Dijk advises: “Studying online offers you the flexibility and the ability to apply your knowledge immediately in your work environment. Apply and make this the first step in your postgraduate professional career!”
