Advice before taking up a martial art

Many different (even controversial) martial arts are available and it takes a lot of effort, time and self-discipline to master any them.  Because it will utilize a lot of your time, money and resources to study and advance in such a discipline, it is vital to investigate and find the most suited martial art, but also the best environment for your training and personal development.  It is good practice to visit various clubs, verify the instructors’ credentials as well as the validity of qualifications, certificates, etc.  Also consider safety matters and how you will fit into the group.

Form your own opinion and make an informed decision before joining.  Investigate and consult extensively to see the options available that will best meet your unique aspirations and personality!
