CALL FOR ARTICLES:
SPECIAL ISSUE OF THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY JOURNAL OF LANGUAGE AND SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION ON
“THE STATE OF HISTORY EDUCATION IN AFRICA”
Deadline: 20th March 2022
The African Association for History Education (AHE-Afrika), based at the University of Pretoria (UP), and the University of Zambia (UNZA), invite original and high-quality submissions for a thematic Special Issue on “The State of History Education in Africa”. The Special Issue will be published in The Multidisciplinary Journal of Language and Social Sciences Education (MJLSSE), a peer-reviewed journal housed in the Department of Language and Social Sciences Education of the School of Education at UNZA, and will be guest-edited by Prof Johan Wassermann, Dr Denise Bentrovato and edited by Ms Nisbert Machila. The publication, scheduled for June 2022, is linked to AHE-Afrika’s just-ended Fourth History Education Conference, which was kindly hosted by the Department of Language and Social Science Education at UNZA. In line with the key thematic areas foregrounded at the conference, we are calling for submissions addressing questions that relate to:
●Decolonization of the School History Curriculum in Africa
●Curriculum Reform and Transformations in the School History Curriculum in Africa
●Historical Consciousness
●Pedagogies and Competencies in History Education
●Assessment in History
●Information Communication Technology (ICT) and History Education
● Teaching History during the Corona Virus (Covid-19) Pandemic
● History Textbooks
●Gender in History Education
●Teaching Sensitive and Controversial issues in History
●Remembering Key African Figures in History Education
Instructions to Authors
The submissions should include:
●The referencing style is APA
●The font is 12 Times New Roman while spacing is 1.5.
●The whole paper should not exceed 7000 words
