The overall pass rate (first-time writers and repeating candidates combined) of the exam was 58% (79% for first-time writers only), while UP obtained an overall pass rate of 95% and 96% for first-time writers only. In addition, UP candidates also obtained the highest overall average mark in this challenging exam.

UP contributed 8,8% of the 1536 first-time writers that passed the exam and 32% of the 28 candidates that passed with distinction – surely, the latter is proof of the caliber of the candidates completing their CTA at UP. Included in this select group of distinction candidates, is Melanie Cope, who achieved a joint first place under the Top Ten candidates. In addition 4 other candidates from UP are also included in the Top Ten – meaning that UP took half (5) of the Top Ten positions in 2009! These candidates are heartily congratulated on their sterling achievements.
