UP CA Students rewarded

Posted on September 08, 2009

The results of the first part of the 2009 Qualifying Exam (QE1) of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) were released and once again the University of Pretoria achieved excellent results in this very challenging professional exam. UP obtained an overall pass rate of 95% and 96% for first-time writers only. In addition, UP candidates also obtained the highest overall average mark in this challenging exam.

Included in this select group of distinction candidates, is Melanie Cope, who achieved a joint first place under the Top Ten candidates. In addition 4 other candidates from UP are also included in the Top Ten – resulting in UP taking half (5) of the Top Ten positions in 2009 – a first for the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and to our knowledge the first time that a university in South Africa attained this distinction! The Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, Prof Carolina Koornhof heartily congratulated these candidates on their sterling achievements.
