A happy hallo from Holland.

“My experience in the Netherlands is one that will definitely have a deep and positive influence on my life. Not only because it is such a wonderful opportunity in itself, but also because I made a conscious decision; I chose to open my heart and mind, such that these two months make a permanent investment in who I am as an individual. There has been a constant expectation in my heart for what God has in store for me” says Nolo.

The Master programme in Accounting at the Vrije University has been an exciting challenge for Nolo. She has had an opportunity to take advantage of what the South African curriculum has to offer and expand on that through what Vrije has to offer. The main area of interest for her has been firstly, their focus on introducing students to research skills prior to them entering the professional environment, and secondly, their approach to teaching IFRS.

Nolo believes this experience came at a critical time for her. As she is still in the early stages of her career as an academic, a taste of the international college experience has definitely made her hungry for more knowledge. “I'm looking forward to taking what I have learned here in Amsterdam and integrating it with my future academic aspirations at Tuks” says Nolo.

She wants to thank Proff Oberholster, Myburgh, Venter, Coetzee, of the Department of Accounting and the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences for making this opportunity possible. Also a word of sincere appreciation goes to SAVUSA (South Africa University Strategic Alliances) for their SKILL (Stimulating Knowledge Innovation through Life-Long Learning),programme, which avails funds for South African students to expand on their knowledge, scope and skills within their respective fields at selected universities in the Netherlands.
