Accounting students receive awards

Winners of the awards and their parents and/or partners attended the cocktail function. Other guests included lecturers and staff from the Department of Accounting, as well as representatives from institutions that sponsored the prizes.

Prof Elmar Venter of the Department of Taxation was the master of ceremonies at the event. After welcoming the guests he introduced the guest speaker, Mr Marius Schoeman, Chief Operating Officer (International Operations) of Business Connexion (Pty) Ltd. Mr Schoeman delivered an inspiring address – “Life is about choices” – and provided the attendees with food for thought in the future.

Mr Greg du Plessis from Deloitte, sponsor of the function, congratulated all the recipients on their sterling performance, on behalf of the sponsors. Photos of the evening and CDs given to winners was sponsored by BDO. Miss Karabo Neluheni thanked the sponsors on behalf of the recipients. Compliments on the quality of the function were received from several sources and the function was deemed to be highly successful.
