4DEF Challenge 2012

Posted on August 28, 2012

The participants on the day brought contributions such as tinned foods and clothing, which were donated to Tshwaraganang Orphanage in Hammanskraal on 25 August 2012.

The stage was set at the UP Conference Centre for a day jam-packed with many fun filled activities, ranging from intellectual challenges such as “Are you smarter than a CA?” to energetic games such as “Athletes Foot”. The main event was the Amazing Race – with teams racing around campus and completing challenges in what was an exhilarating and exhausting day. Every participant left with a sponsored T-shirt and prize.

Various firms sponsored the event and Thuthuka would like to thank the sponsors for their support, which include BDO, KPMG, Tsogo Sun, Lexis Nexis, Ernst & Young, Sasol, Discovery, Hollard, Transnet, RSM Betty & Dickson, Career Wise, PWC, OMA, SAPPI, Ethos and ABSA.

The 2012 4DEFChallenge was special in that the Thuthuka student who first established the event as a second-year in 2008, Amogelang Nawa, as well as his compatriots, Tshidiso Maduwa, Portia Balepile, Portia Rokho, Sipho Langa Marcus Howard and Karabo Neluheni, who are all now in their first year of articles, came back as team leaders and enthusiastic participants in the entertainment of the day.

As members of the 2012 4DEF, which is an acronym for “for the future”, we reflect with pride on how far along this event has come. We are sure it will continue into the future as many more students join the Thuthuka family and make South Africa a truly great country.
