Pirates of the Caribbean on campus

Posted on October 31, 2012

The tutors and assistants came in droves like pirate-ships sailing on tidal waves. Everyone was dressed up like a pirate, with swords flying around the room. The excitement of the Somali pirates, the lady pirates, the Jack Sparrows and various other characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy was the order of the day.

To everyone’s amazement, there was also a performance by Zulu dancers, led by Philane Khathide, a helpdesk assistant. The guests joined in the fun by dancing and clapping their hands.

Prof Johan Oberholster expressed the Department’s sincere gratitude and appreciation to the tutors and assistants for all their hard work during 2012. The tutors and assistants enjoyed the function thoroughly and extended their gratitude to Mrs Eunice du Toit and everyone who helped to make the “pirate-affair” such a success.
