FOOTNOTES TO PLATO[1]

Footnotes to Plato is a group at the University of Pretoria dedicated to matters of philosophical interest. The group holds weekly meetings where these topics are discussed and elaborated upon. Apart from the frequent smaller informal discussions by postgraduate students on topics of particular interest to them, Footnotes also organises meetings in which more topical, controversial and hopefully fun discussions will take place. Other events such as the screening of philosophical films are also organised through Footnotes.

If you are a student of philosophy, or just have a general interest in philosophy, you are welcome to join our group and the discussions that it facilitates. Philosophy is first and foremost a discursive matter, so join us in bringing philosophy to life by participating in the discussions.

Furthermore, a Facebook group has been introduced. Here you have the opportunity to post comments, ask questions and engage in discussions with other like-minded people. The Facebook group will inform you of upcoming philosophically-related events, as well as provide links to interesting websites. For more information, contact us via Facebook.

Please see the Philosophy Department’s notice board (HSB 20) for announcements concerning our scheduled meetings and upcoming events.

If you have any enquiries, don’t hesitate to contact the administrators, Darryl Wardle or  Stefan Smit, on: [email protected]
