2022 SA Regional Aquatic Junior Championships

Closing Date for Entries for Tuks Swimmers: Sunday, 27 February 2022

Take note of the info below:

  • The most recent copy of the SSA National and Regional Competition Rules (2022 National Swimming Competitions Rules).
  • The most up to date Age Group Time Standards that we have (SA Age Group QT - 15 Dec 2021).
  • A top times report for the season (TuksSwimming Top Times 1 May 2021 - 7 Feb 2022 with Age Group Standards). Please note the following in this regard:
    • 3.1 The time standards achieved by each swimmer have been flagged.
    • 3.2 The top 2 times per event have been included. This is so you can check that you have met the IM requirement. (Please see below)
    • 3.3 The swimmers’ age is based on their age as of 9 February 2022. If you have a birthday between now and the competition, you will need to check that your times meet the qualifying time for your new age group.
  • The events listing for the Gala.

Age Group Competition Rules Summary

All the information below is in the Competition Rules document referred to in point no'1 above, but here is a brief summary:

1. Times must have been achieved from 1 May 2021.

2. A swimmer MUST have times on the database to enter an event.

3. Swimmers age is based on the age they are on the 1st day of the competition.

4. IM Requirement for Age group Competitions (i.e. SARJ)  (can include 200 and/or 400 IM)

4.1 Level 1 – No IM requirement

4.2 Level 2 – One IM

4.3 Level 3 and Junior Nationals (National and Regional) – TWO IM’s

5. You must participate at the highest level of that you have achieved a Qualifying Time (QT)  for, with the following exceptions:

5.1 Swimmers 10 & Under may Choose to participate at Level 2 rather than Level 3 or up

5.2 Swimmers 11 & Under may Choose to participate at Level 3 rather than SARJ or up.

5.3 It is our understanding that a swimmer with a SANJ time may compete at SARJ, however, the rules say you may only compete at ONE Age Group Event (meaning one of these Age Group Gala’s.

6. Swimmers may only compete at ONE Regional Age Group Competition, except 9 years and under swimmers and swimmers who compete at Level 1 and qualify to be entered in Level 2 Regional Age Group, or higher in the same season.

7. As far as we understand it, you may enter as many other events as you want to as long as you have time on the database for that event for this season.

8. The rules specifically say that there are NO QTs' for 50m events for Level 3, SARJ and SANJ.

Relays will be finalised at the competitions by the coaches present and based on times from the season as well as the swimmers' performances at the competition.
