Present
- James Mehl (Chairperson)
- Inger Fabris-Rotelli
- Osmond Mlonyeni
- Ernest Rambau
1. Previous Minutes
We approved the minutes of the meetings on 9 December, 12 and 15 January. The only alterations were to the meeting on 12 January – Prof. Ströh was added to the list of people present and James removed as Chairperson for that meeting – and to add Ernest to the apologies list for the meeting on 15 January.
The meeting on 22 January took place in Inger’s office. Inger, Osmond and Ernest were present. The presentation for the Honours meeting was discussed.
2. Marketing Plan for 2009
2.1. Introduction of PSANA to the Honours students:
- We received good feedback.
- Next year we must plan further in advance (Nov/Dec) to ensure we get to all students. This will be the responsibility of the new committee.
2.2 Seminars
- Osmond did send the mentorship plan to Prof. Stroh.
- Osmond hasn’t done the seminar plan and letter yet as he feels we must sort out the administration first.
- We will only have 1 seminar for the year. First we must check on our available funding with Marie and then we can do the letter and plan. We’ll aim to have it in IT 2-27.
2.3 Open Day for the Third Years:
- The faculty is supporting us in this regard. We’ll organize a meeting with Marie to finalize all the details and then go ahead with our planning. She, however, is not available on 20 July but we should manage without her.
3. Website Feedback
We haven’t received any feedback so will send out an email with a few questions on PSANA and the website, with examples. The possible questions are:
1. What do you think about the current PSANA website?
2. How do you think the website could be improved? i.e. what would you like to see on it.
3. Who/what is PSANA to you?
4. What would you like/expect PSANA to do for you?
5. What improvement/changes would you like on our constitution?
We will also look at improving the ability of contacting PSANA from the website.
4. Memorandum of Understanding
This is looking extremely good and is currently being dealt with at top management. We will check it is enforced in the faculty once it is finalized.
5. International Students
James gave a letter to the Dean regarding the security issues at Jakaranda residence. Osmond suggested we take this up with residence management if it is not resolved by the faculty.
