PSANA EXCO Meeting

Apologies
1. Minutes
- A copy of the previous meetings minutes must be distributed by the secretary to all members at the following meeting to make any corrections necessary.
2. Social
- Action cricket to be organized by James (Bob), a fine will be levied against all players that do not show up for a game, more information at next meeting.
- Ten-pin bowling to be organized by Craig, the department of Genetics is yet to be contacted in regard to forming a team, more information at next meeting.
3. List server
- Complaint has been received; complainant does not want to be e-mailed job offers. A member vote on biolpost will be taken as to whether the job offers will continue to be mailed or will be posted as a link on the website. (2/3 majority needed to change current mailing procedure)
4. Banner
- Contact will be made with PPS on Wednesday the seventh of July in connection of sponsoring the banner
- Banner as a promotional object, concern that it has to comply with University criteria? this will be followed up
5. Exco Braai
- Date for the Braai is Saturday the tenth of July
- Venue chosen will be Freddie's house, venue changed from bottom dam as only UP staff are allowed there and the price is R300 per day
- All who will attend are asked to reply. to Marelize, promptly and state whether they ae bringing the a partner, and an apology is necessary from all who will not be attending.
- Those attending are asked to please bring their favourite liquor, as the PSANA shooter (Neither of Either) is to be concocted! Those attending please bring own meat, drinks, and cups or glasses.

6. Open day
- Date of the Open day is Wednesday the twenty first of July
- Venue is the Club hall at Coffee at Burgundies, next to the Aula
- Chairs are graciously supplied by Marie Venter
- Tables and tablecloths are to be rented
- Gifts are for those attending are donated by Marie Venter and will be distributed on a lucky 'draw basis' basis
- Bursaries are as yet not finalized, Freddie is perusing this issue further
- Files, pens and other stationary will be distributed
- Food will be platters hired from the venue, drinks will be wine and juice
- Speakers at the Open day will include the heads of the four schools, the head of the PPS, Prof. Cloete or Prof. Mike, and the last speaker(s) will be finalized before Friday, Freddie is to get the talks from the speakers and send copies to the member by the sixteenth of this month.

7. General
- Posters will beready for approval on Friday and will be printed on Monday
- All female members of PSANA are to fold folders on the morning of the Open day
- All male members are to help with the set-up of the chairs in the venue
- Inqaba Biotechnologies will have a poster at the Open day
- The Law department has not responded in connection with the new constitution
- Once the Open day has been finalized! There has been an issue raised about the Chemical store that provides the Natural and Agricultural faculty and the Engineering faculty, complaints have been raised that they buy only cheap, inferior chemicals, and are never on hand when needed. Letters of complaint from the departments of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology and Plant pathology are to be sent to Paula, who in tern will inform Professor Ströh.
- The final year function has been petitioned to be a formal event catering 500 people, and will be held on th eighth of October, preliminary venue is the Onthaal locaal, next to the Sanlam Auditorium, a better venue is being looked into, a suggestion was made for the Sheraton hotel, which can be booked R 3000 (but this venue only caters 250 people), and a string quartet will be made available to play during supper, and a bioagrics after party will be held.
- Members! there has been complains among the board members of disrespectful and degrading treatment and language towards members of the board by OTHER MEMBERS!!! Please! As we represent the whole of the postgraduate student body of this faculty, let our behaviour and conduct reflect well upon the society we serve, lest the whole barrel be judged based on one bad apple!
