The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences has a long and proud tradition and is well known for its research expertise. South Africa has a very rich flora with a large variety of endemic plant species, which are adapted to flourish in diverse habitats. Therefore, South Africa is a paradise to anyone wishing to study the variety of indigenous plants, as well as their uses and lifestyles.
