Brenda is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (NAS), University of Pretoria. She obtained her BSc(Actuarial and Mathematical Sciences), Bsc(Hons), Msc and PhD in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Pretoria. Brenda’s research interests are in distribution theory, with specialization in quantile modeling, which has birthed multiple publications in ISI journals as well as conference presentations on both the local and internal frontiers. Subsequently, she won the “Young Statisticians' Competition” and presented the winning paper at the 60th ISI World Statistics Congress. Her recent research focus has been in directional statistics. Brenda has an almost decade long career at UP, engaging in teaching both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to supervision of postgraduate students. In 2022, she was awarded the “Best First Year Lecturer” accolade by the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (NAS) at the university. Brenda is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society , South African Statistical Association (SASA), Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) and Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA).
