Dr. Bothma began her academic journey in 2018 as a student lecturer at the Department of Statistics in the School for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at North-West University. She holds a BSc in Actuarial Sciences, BSc Honours in Quantitative Risk Management, and an MSc in Mathematical Statistics, with distinction, all earned at the North-West University. In 2022, she earned her PhD in Statistics from the same university. Following this, in 2022, she was appointed as a senior lecturer at the Department of Statistics in the School for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the North-West University. Her area of research focuses on testing the goodness-of-fit in the context of survival analysis. She has shared her findings with a global audience through several published articles and by presenting her research at conferences both locally and internationally. In 2020, Dr. Bothma was a member of the organizing committee for StatCon2020, an online workshop hosted by the Statistics Department of the North-West University, and the newly formed research entity, Pure and Applied Analytics (PAA). She served as the Chair of the organizing committee for StatCon 2022, which took place at Skukuza Lodge in the Kruger National Park. Currently, she is a member of the organizing committee for both StatCon2023, to be held in Cape Town, and the Goodness-of-fit and Change Point (GOFCP) workshops, which will be held in the Kruger National Park. Additionally, she holds a position on the executive committee of the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA), where she serves as the journal manager for ORiON, and is a member of the South Africa Statistical Association (SASA).
