Dr. Byron Brassel is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the Durban University of Technology. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Applied Mathematics, obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Byron’s research areas lie in general relativity, higher order modified gravity, differential geometry and differ- ential equations. He has published several articles in high impact journals as well as refereed several manuscripts. Byron has been lecturing at the Durban University of Technology from February 2023 and previously lectured undergraduate and honours modules at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 2017-2022. He has also been actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate students (three honours, two masters and one doctoral). Byron has given many scientific talks at national and international con- ferences and has been involved in local conference organisation.
