Presently, Sefako Makgatho Health Science University's department of mathematics and applied mathematics employs Mpho Nkwanazana as a lecturer in mathematics. Professor Raseelo Moitsheki of Witwatersrand University served as his advisor as he recently turned in his PhD thesis. He graduated from North West University with an MSc in Applied Mathematics. At the University of Johannesburg, Mpho Nkwanazana began his academic career as a lecturer in engineering mathematics.

Symmetry Analysis of Differential Equations is his area of study. He concentrated on analysing reaction-diffusion equation-based heat transfer models for his Doctorate.

The objective was to apply group classification methods to discover functions of arbitrary situations for which diffusion equations admit some Lie point symmetries.
