Mr Sphiwe Bonakele Skhosana

Mr. Sphiwe Skhosana is currently a PhD student and nGAP (new Generation of Academics programme) lecturer in the Department of Statistics at the University of Pretoria. In the latter capacity, he teaches foundational courses in applied and mathematical statistics. He was born in Hammanskraal (Pretoria North). He obtained all his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in applied statistics from the University of Pretoria. As a junior researcher, his research interests are in computational statistics, algorithms for statistical modelling and statistical models for studying populations consisting of unobserved sub-populations (known in the field of statistics as mixture models) and the use of these methods in solving problem that arise in the social sciences. He is an ordinary member of he South African Statistical Association (SASA) and a member of the Computational Methodological Statistics (CMStatistics).
