Welcome J. Dlamini is an NGAP Lecturer and Statistics Doctoral student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has interests in environmental, biological, socioeconomic and demographic health data that can help policy makers during interventions. Welcome successfully obtained Research Links Travel Grant from the Newton Funds in 2018 and spend six weeks at the University of Southampton. During the six weeks, he attended a courses in Bayesian survival Modelling and Machine Learning. Throughout the years of study, Welcome acquired skills in Statistical Computing through interactions and attending conferences and workshops. He has therefore strengthened his statistical computing using real datasets in the case of both Bayesian and Classical approaches.

Welcome has tutored and demonstrated statistics modules since he was a postgraduate in 2014 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has demonstrated for Statistics modules at 1st and 2nd year level until he was appointed as an NGAP Lecturer in 2017 at the University of Zululand. He is supervising at Honours level, and has successfully supervised one Honours theses in 2021. Welcome successfully completed supervision (2020) and animal ethics courses(2021).

Since 2017 Welcome has been teaching at undergraduate level, assisting student with data manipulations, and was teaching two honours modules in 2021.

Welcome is keen and passionate about teaching statistics and data analysis. He is teaching undergraduate students in 3rd level statistics in the department of mathematical sciences at the University of Zululand.
