Dr. Marike Cockeran is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of Statistics in the School for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the North-West University (NWU). She obtained her PhD in Statistics at the NWU in 2020 with the title “Goodness-of-fit testing in survival models.” Her research focuses on goodness-of-fit testing and survival models. She has published various articles and presented her research at both local and international conferences. In 2020 and 2021 she was on the organising committee of StatCon2020 (Statistics Convention, 2020) an online workshop hosted by the Statistics Department of NWU as well as the newly formed research entity Pure and Applied Analytics (PAA). Dr. Cockeran has also developed and presented numerous short courses in different statistical software packages for researchers. She is head of Statistical Consultation Services, where she supports staff members, post-doctorate, and postgraduate students with the planning and design of their studies and the statistical analyses of their research projects. Lastly, she also currently serve on the Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC). |
