Dr Danielle Roberts

Danielle Jade Roberts is a Statistics lecturer in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). She completed her PhD thesis in December 2021 and graduated in April 2022. Danielle is the coordinator for UKZN’s new Postgraduate Diploma in Data Science and Masters in Data Science programs. She has been responsible for the teaching and development of content for numerous undergraduate and postgraduate modules. In addition, she has supervised 7 Masters students to completion.

Danielle’s research interests include but are not limited to biostatistics, spatial statistics and machine learning. More recently, she has developed an interest in programming with a focus on creating data-driven interactive apps/business intelligence tools using R Shiny. She hopes to incorporate workshops on these skills in the new Data Science programs at UKZN as she believes such technical skills are becoming increasingly valuable for graduates to have in industry.
