| Alma van der Merwe is a lecturer of Mathematics in die Academic Development Unit, which is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Build Environment at the University of the Witwatersrand. She is interested in several interesting questions in the fields of Linear Algebra, Matrix Analysis, Control Theory, Operator Theory, Complex Analysis and Functional Analysis. She holds a PhD (Mathematics) from the North-West University. Her PhD thesis provides realization formulas for involutions of matrix-valued positive real odd functions. Furthermore, it provides a Pick matrix criteria that characterizes the real Lyapunov order. The results relating to this Pick matrix criteria were obtained during an investigation of classes of positive linear maps that are also completely positive. During this investigation results were obtained on the question which positive linear maps are also completely positive. Lastly, the Pick matrix criteria is used to provide a solution for the Cohen-Lewkowicz interpolation theorem. |  |
