ALBERT ANTWI, Dip (UCC), BSc. (KNUST), MTech (TUT), BSc. Hon, M.Sc. & PhD (Univen). Dr. Albert Antwi commenced his academic journey at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, where he obtained a diploma in Mathematics and Science Education. After his diploma studies, he went ahead to study a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. Albert’s postgraduate studies in BSc. Honours, MSc. and PhD in Statistics were all obtained from the University of Venda. He also completed his MTech. Mathematical Technology (Applied Mathematics) at the Tshwane University of Technology. Before joining Sol Platje University as a Statistics and Operations Research lecturer, Albert tutored undergraduate modules in Statistics at University of Venda. Over the past decade, he was actively involved in the teaching of Mathematics at high School level in South Africa and Ghana. Albert served as a member of the local organizing committee for the 2020-second international multidisciplinary information technology and engineering conference which was organized by Sol Plaatje University via online. Albert’s research interest includes but not limited to Statistical modelling with emphasis on Finance and Economics. Over the past year, he has contributed to the body of knowledge on volatility and value-at-risk modelling. Specifically, he has employed the knowledge of mutual entropies among exchange rates to augment and improve volatility and value-at-risk forecasts via GARCH framework. In future, Albert intends to explore other properties of asset returns that could be used to further improve forecasts from GARCH and stochastic volatility models. |
