Dr. Dephney Mathebula is currently working at the University of Venda(UNIVEN) as a Senior Lecturer and supervise a number of postgraduate students. She is a member of African Women in Mathematical Sciences Association. She is a beneficiary of Uinversity Capacity Development Programme since 2017 up to date. In 2018, she became the first South African to obtain a PhD in Mathematics at UNIVEN . Besides PhD in Mathematics, she holds a BSc in Mathematics and Statisticsa and BSc Hons in Mathematics from UNIVEN, BSc Hons in Biomathematics and MSc in Biomathematics from Stellenbosch University(SU). Her research interest is in Applied Mathematics (Biomathematics), where her main focus is on mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. As a result of her PhD research study, a number papers have been published so far and one paper was rated number 3 under 25 Hottest Articles in the whole world in 2014 at Mathematical Biosciences Journal. She has also presented some of her research outputs at the International Conferences. Apart from doing Mathematical modelling research and lecturing, she is also involved in outreach activities that aim to contribute to uplifting young people from rural areas to pursue careers in STEM |
