The drive for the creation of metals and products with superior properties, as well as the need for their reduced carbon footprint, necessitates continued and innovative focus on alloy design, optimization and modelling of thermomechanical processes, and microstructural characterisation. As such, this symposium will concentrate on the intrinsic link between the alloy modification and design, process parameters, and the correlating microstructures and properties. Novel and advanced materials characterization techniques and simulation approaches will also be showcased.
To address and cater to these needs, we are pleased to inform you that the Department of Material Science & Metallurgical at the University of Pretoria & the Centre for Materials Engineering at the University of Cape Town will co-host the 2024 Symposium of Advanced Materials Processing & Characterisation will be hosted from the 27th of November to the 29th of November 2024 at the Engineering 4.0 facility in Hillcrest, Pretoria.
The symposium’s agenda will feature keynote speeches from global experts, with a focus on three distinct material types: steel, aluminium, and titanium. The symposium will also include presentations of relevant research activities from a variety of local universities and research institutions, along with contributions from local metal production industries.
