Lizette, who is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Humanities Education at the University of Pretoria’s Groenkloof Campus, wrote a chapter entitled “Using information and communication technology in education”.
The main aim of the chapter was to provide information and suggestions on creating LTSMs for classroom activities which incorporate technology. Topics in the chapter include exploring the potential for integrating information and communication technology in the classroom; from potential to practice; and using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
Lizette also presented a paper at the Conference on Education Standards, organised by Umalusi, the quality council for general and further education and training, in May 2012.
The paper was entitled “Setting standards in teachers’ professional development: Misunderstandings as manifested in instructional communication”. The main aim of the paper was to explore how standard setting exercises contributed to teachers’ professional development, looking particularly at how the oral proficiency of L2 student teachers contributed to L2 learners' misunderstandings in the classroom.
