GIBS PMD: Best of online and face-to-face business education

Posted on February 22, 2013

The University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) is no exception and has joined the growing ranks of world-class business schools to offer online learning, harnessing the information-sharing ability of technology to deliver truly flexible education. The evolution of its teaching techniques are evident with the launch in 2013 of the business school’s hybrid Programme for Management Development (PMD), which combines both online learning as well as face-to-face interaction with qualified faculty.

The PMD, a comprehensive ten module certificate programme, offers an innovative and stimulating learning experience through an unprecedented approach in delivering learning through online and face-to-face interaction. Both the content and design of this intensive programme are centred on a needs-based analysis conducted with South African business leaders who understand the complexities of the new dynamic markets conundrum we are operating in.

“South African businesses need highly skilled managers who continuously expand their knowledge base. However, today’s time-pressured business environment makes it difficult for many professionals to take time out to study. Having flexible study options is one of the best options at the moment,” said Shireen Chengadu, executive director of academic programmes at GIBS.

“The PMD provides a knowledge base in the general management functions, as well as personal skills in key areas. The action learning approach of the programme enables one to immediately transfer what you have learnt to the working environment,” she added.

Registrations for the hybrid PMD close on the 22 February 2013. Click here for more information
