#TuksFootball: Crunch Time for UP-Tuks in Varsity Football

Posted on August 12, 2016

It’s Deja Vu for UP-Tuks who travel to Bloemfontein to take on CUT in the fifth round of the Varsity Football tournament on Monday, 15 August 2016 as the two teams played each other in the USSA Football Championships which took place in March. Kick-off will be at 16:30.

It was UP-Tuks who triumphed in that final and CUT will be looking to inflict revenge against the two-time champions. It has been a dream start for tournament debutants CUT who are yet to be beaten in this year’s edition and they occupy second place on the log.

It has been a tricky start for the tournament favourites UP-Tuks who have only managed one win in four matches this season but their big match temperate will come in handy as the log begins to take its shape.

It is crunch time in the tournament and no team will want to give anything away, with more than 5 teams in the running for a top-four finish the boys will be separated from the men in round 5 of the varsity football tournament.

One of the players who featured in the USSA final was Khumbulani Siluma who echoed the sentiments of the rest of the team, “First and foremost I think we have prepared well for this match and I think the fact that we played against them twice at USSA will help us as we are familiar with the conditions there. We are raring to go and looking forward to the match with the hope of getting maximum points.”
