USSA awards: a night to remember for Tuks' women

Posted on December 15, 2009

Tuks' classic team spirit through out the tournament led to them being named Team of the Tournament, the first time ever that this award was bestowed on the University of Pretoria.

Thabile Sikhosana, the team manager was recognized for her contribution to her team’s performance on and off the field. She came home with the Manager of the Tournament award.

And Sello Mokoena lost a step when he was called forward to collect the Coach of the Tournament award.

“Coming home with three special awards, is breathtaking. It show the potential in ourselves and we just need to regain confidence to begin the race next year in the right frame of mind,” said team captain, Simphiwe Dludlu.

Sello commented: “I was not expecting to get the award and was in my own world when the announcement was made. That is why I was lost for words initially."

He said he really appreciates the efforts by his players during the tournament.

“It feels great to realize that we have something to show, though our mission was not accomplished."

TuksFootball Manager, Kenneth Neluvhalani congratulated the team with the special awards.

“Though they’ve lost momentum in the end, I believe they have contested well through out the tournament. These special awards should not be a once off. We would like to see more of them,” added Kenneth.
