Grahamstown, here we come

Posted on August 11, 2010

“We are pulling out all the stops to book a seat for the upcoming championships in Grahamstown,” said men’s coach, Sly Mosala. He knows the feeling of so near but yet so far as last year the team failed to qualify for the championship.

The Tuks ladies are in a more joyful mood as they are leading the race on the log which gives them more confidence for their remaining games.

“We take every game as it comes. What happened in previous games is history. We will, however, use them to improve our overall performance,” said women’s team coach, Sello Mokoena. She has lead the team to four championship titles.

Yesterday (10 August) Tuks played Monash University. The women won 6 – 0 and the men 3 -0.

Mokoena opted to introduce new players by resting those who’ve been playing every Tuesday.

“The plan has worked. I had to give other players a run in order to keep them sharp and have a broader base to work from,” confirmed Mokoena.

Mosala’s team had to do without last week’s hat-trick scorer, Mosa Sesele. He had to sit out due to injury.

“Some of our players are injured or ill. We also had to rest few players because of the busy schedule.”
The men’s team currently is in fourth position on the log. They are looking forward to the next game when they face TUT Ga-Rankuwa Campus away.

The finals of the UGFL will be held on 14 September 2010 at the ABSA Tuks Stadium.
