Posted on September 26, 2010

AmaTuks’ captain, Joseph Mthombeni showed character by scoring both his team’s goals.

“Chasing the scoreboard was very tough, but calmness and eagerness made us bite the bullet,” said Joseph.

AmaTuks went to the game breather being 1 – 0 as well as 1 man down.

Siya Mngoma got a red card after allegedly holding the ball outside the box. This sending off saw Tristyn Coetzee substituting Phethego Maebela in the poles before the taking of the penalty.

“We had to sacrifice one player for the goal keeper as we realized that there is more to do than already done in the game” said AmaTuks Head Coach, Steve Barker.

Coming from the breather, AmaTuks kept the fighting spirit going. Within the first 10 minutes Tebogo Mashaba was however sent off after receiving his 2nd yellow card.

“We realized we had to support each other and be a unit like never before also not forgetting to give challenge in order to get what we deserve most,” said Mthombeni.

AmaTuks started taking charge of the game which was constituted further by using substitutions Thabo Moleko and Mduduzi Makwakwa as impact players.

“We had to use our strength which was to add pace to the game and short passes, resulting in 2 goals,” said a smiling Barker.

The coach and captain both praised the team for the character they had showed.

“It’s one of those unseen circumstances to get 2 red cards in one game, but the team joined forces and pulled through for a draw” said the coach.

“It was tough, but we kept face and now looking forward to the next game” added the AmaTuks captain.
