The only goal of the match came from a Marc van Heerden penalty spot kick.
Despite the rainy weather condition and a water locked pitch, the game continued nonetheless.
AmaZulu were the first to launch an attack in the opening minutes of the match with Ayanda Dlamini’s shot going wide.
AmaTuks got a good chance at goal in the 10th minute when Ayanda Lubelo made a cross from the right wing, spotting Mame Niang in the box. Niang then played the ball back to Aubrey Ngoma, whose shot went wide.
Minutes later in the 5th minute, Niang got another chance in front of the AmaZulu goals, but could not convert into a goal as he blasted the ball over the cross bar.
AmaZulu launched attack after attack, but they could not get through the AmaTuks Goal Keeper Washington Arubi.
Arubi was kept the busier of the two keepers in the first 45 minutes as both teams went into the break goalless.
The rain started pouring down again in Umlazi just before half time and continued as the second half went underway.
There was not much action in the first twenty five minutes of the second half as both teams could not find their rhythm due to the water locked pitch.
In the 81st minute AmaZulu were awarded a penalty when defender Buhle Mkhwanazi was judged to have brought down Goodman Dlamini inside the box. Mkhwanazi was issued with his second yellow card in the game and given matching order by referee Buyile Gqubule.
Coach Steve Barker decided to throw more bodies forward in an attempt at goal. He brought on Dumisani Ngwenya for Ayanda Lubelo and David Hadebe coming on for Bongani Zungu.
The match ended 1-0 to AmaZulu, making this AmaTuks’ first loss thus far on the road.
