This will be the second competitive League meeting between the University of Pretoria and Golden Arrows. The last time the two teams met was at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont, Durban. AmaTuks registered their first win in the elite League when they beat Arrows 1-0 on the day.

AmaTuks went into the Christmas break sixth (6) on the log table after playing to a 2^nd round 1-1 draw against Maritzburg United on 18 December 2012.

In the first round of the season, AmaTuks registered one (1) win, drew four (4) and lost two (2) matches from the seven (7) that were played at the Tuks Stadium and Loftus Versfeld Stadium (loss to Orlando Pirates) and has collected nine (9) points out of a possibility of twenty one (21) here at home.

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows have also managed only one (1) win on the road, drew three (3) and lost three (3) games from the seven (7) they have played away from home thus far. The team suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Orlando Pirates in their last match before the Christmas break - a result that saw them go into the break 13^th on the log table.
